The summer solstice festival is annual in the realm of Byblos. Despite the recent changes within this realm (how it is not quite a realm any longer but instead attached to many other worlds merely a walk away), despite the loss of Isis, the goddess' hamlets are determined to continue to put on a wonderful festival still. Celebration of fertility and abundance is a vital one especially in uncertain times such as these ones.

The festival is full of a celebration of the coming harvest. Food abounds through every corner of Byblos today. Store keepers have emptied their stocks in anticipation of the coming harvest, and many dishes adorn tables throughout the town squares, brought by many of the individuals who live here to add to the feast as is traditions. Beyond delicious food and drink, the town squares and nearby countryside are full of music and maypoles and dancing as the citizens of Byblos celebrate life. Bonfires are scattered across the celebration to ward off evil spirits.

Men are more visible and present during the festival as the witches acknowledge not all men are garbage (maybe) and many weddings happen during the festival. Those with the authority to marry are happy to marry any two willing partners so long as the necessary witnesses are there to watch the marriage ceremony.

At the height of the festival, many rituals occur (some private and some public) to channel power for the coming year and to ask for blessings and abundance from the goddess and powers that might listen. The vast majority of these rituals are done in private, but with such uncertainty in the realm, there are more public rituals this year, open for many to come and view. An official dinner of the hamlets takes places during this time to discuss important matters, which will be announced in the weeks to come so as not to interrupt the festivities.

As the day turns to evening, the witches become more tipsy. Dancing becomes far more wild and free. The night holds the best potential for mischief and fun as the celebrations stretch late into the evening.

The summer solstice is all about the celebration of life and good fortune so come, celebrate, and be merry.
